System Review: Remington IPL6000USA I-Light Pro
It seems that the end of 2011 has brought a bloom for the IPL industry as many new IPL systems have been brought forward and are available to customers worldwide. In this review you can learn some more about the Remington IPL6000USA I-Light Pro, Professional IPL Hair Removal System.
Remington IPL6000USA I-Light Pro Description
The Remington IPL6000USA I-Light Pro is an IPL system for hair removal for home use. It is not the most expensive device you may find at Amazon in the IPL system segment, though it has the basic features to be just as good.
The Remington IPL6000USA I-Light Pro system is built from a base unit and a cord hand held IPL lamp. All the indicators and buttons are located at the base unit, and the hand device is just the IPL lamp.
Having a cord hand device has it’s advantages and disadvantages, a cordless device (like the TRIA laser) is more convenient for treatment in any room with no cables and cords. On th other hand a cordless unit means it needs to be recharged frequently and the session might be interrupted by a ‘low battery’ signal.
Remington is a well reputed brand in Europe, US customers may have met Remington brand for small electric appliances such as electric shavers and trimmers.
Remington IPL Hair Removal I-Light Pro – Pros
The Remington IPL6000USA I-Light Pro definitely can remove hair just like any other IPL system using light to create heat at the hair stem below the skin layer, and disable the growth of the hair cells. Some of the pros for the Remington IPL hair removal system:
Comfortable Hand Device – The hand piece is simple to use, and comfortable to handle. The slim tip makes it very convenient when coming to treat small hair growth areas like the bikini line and under arms. The IPL lamp window is 2 by 3 centimeter (0.93 square inch).
Safety Sensors – There are 2 safety sensors. Skin tone sensor, which checks that the area needed to be treated is not too dark. Skin touch sensors which unless firmly pressed disable the lamp operation, so the IPL will not flash at the eyes.
Fast IPL Flashes – The system has a fast IPL lash repetition ability, of a flash each 2 seconds. This is the time needed for the touch sensors to unlock the lamp, and the IPL to recharge before each pulse. Faster repetition rate means a faster treatment session and saving you time and hassle.
The Remington IPL hair removal is slightly faster than the Tria Laser (1 flash per 2.2 seconds) and much faster than the Silk’n Sensepil (1 flash per 4 seconds!) and the Philips Satin Lux (6 seconds!). The only system faster than the Remington is the Me my Elos hair removal (0.5 seconds! 2 flashes per second, 4 times faster than the Remington! Me my Elos is the leader device of the IPL systems).
Remington IPL Hair Removal I-Light Pro – Cons
The Remington IPL6000USA I-Light Pro though it has a fair price ($250 at Amazon.com) has some down falls compared to other systems. It is not that the system is not good, it is just that other systems are better, some of them are much better (and cost more).
Low IPL Cartridge Life – The Remington IPL6000 I-Light Pro IPL lamp is good for 1500 flashes only. This is a very small quantity of flashes. The system is delivered with 3 full cartridges, which makes 4500 flashes.. it might sound much, but a single Me my Elos IPL lamp has 5400 flashes capability!
Full Body..? – When the Remington instruction guide refers to a ‘full body’ treatment they mean lower legs, underarms and bikini line. In their eyes the 1500 flashes should be enough for 2-3 full-body treatments. But in order to see results more sessions are needed, and for those who wish a real full body, with upper legs, pubic and abdominal, arms and armpits.. it is far from being sufficient.
Skin Tone Sensor Not Near IPL Lamp – The Remington I-Light Pro has a safety skin tone sensor, but the sensor itself is located at the base unit and NOT at beside the IPL lamp window. The location on the base unit, makes the sensor close to.. useless. It will not protect the skin automatically during the treatment sessions over darker skin tones.
Facial Hair Removal – The Remington I-Light Pro just like any other IPL system does not recommend facial hair removal with the system. They intend it to treat body skin from the neck down. Other systems (which cost more) are allowing some facial treatments with their device (like the Silk’n SensEpil). The leader of the home IPL systems the Syneron Me my Elos permits facial hair removal and even has a facial hair removal kit for safer facial use.
Remington IPL Hair Remover Conclusion
The i-LIGHT Pro IPL system is s fine home use IPL system, which can be sufficient for those who need maintenance or small area hair removal solution. The system is nice and elegant looking, with a light power level like most other system. It is easy to use, and intuitive to operate. The price is fair, purchasing it for less than $300 it is a HIGH value for money offer!
